"Adapting and Reforming Institutions for Democracy"
Panel featuring Jacqueline Peschard, former member of the Federal Electoral Institute; Lorenzo Meyer, El Colegio de Mexico; and Jorge Chabat, Centro de Investigacion y Docencia Economica
The turn of the century brought about unprecedented events and a crucial point in Mexico's political scenario. Today Mexico is a working electoral democracy. The redefinition of the political system as a whole presents new challenges. The objective of this International Colloquium was to offer a unique forum for the debate and discussion on the challenges of institutional reform, party politics, and civil society's involvement in Mexico's political process. The event brought together leading policymakers, civil society practitioners, academic researchers, the University's student body and the Mexican community of the Midwest region.
